Course description

This course is designed to provide students with skills necessary to function as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a variety of health care settings. Our program introduces students to a variety of skills such as patient care, legal and ethical issues, documentation, anatomy and physiology, and nutrition. Topics include role and responsibilities of the CNA, safety requirements in the patient care field, equipment use and care, performance skills and procedures. Students meeting all academic, attendance, and age requirements may elect to sit for the Competency Evaluation Examination. Successful completion of the Georgia Registry Examination allows students to seek employment in the state of Georgia as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Course Objectives

Students completing the cna program will be prepared to assist medical practitioners like nurses in providing care for patients in their care. The program is in two parts: the theoretical part and the skills competency training part which is direct hands on care, in an environment that promotes life-long learning. Topics will include:

  • measuring and recording vital signs

  • Infection control

  • Measuring height and weight 

  • Nutrition

  • how to handle medical emergencies

  • how to handle non-medical emergencies

  • Dementia and Alzheimer's disease

  • How to assist with ADLs, etc.

Admissions Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years,

  • In good physical and mental health,

  • Must be able to read and write English language

  • Photo ID and non-laminated social security card

  • TB test or chest X-Ray due before clinical dates

  • Must provide a criminal background check

  • WIA voucher must be submitted on or before first day of class

  • Complete a registration form prior to starting class.

  • Pay a non-refundable registration fee of $35

Job opportunities

Upon completion of this course, students will be eligible to sit for the state of Georgia competency exam certified nursing assistant. After which the student will now seek employment opportunities in the nursing homes, personal care homes, home health/health care or in community health centers. 

Refresher course

This course is only for individuals who are already certified nursing assistants which means they have already gone through the program but are seeking a review class in order to sit for the skills state competency exam. Proof of completion is required to register for this class

Testing

Alpha health Institute is a training and testing center, all tests are taken at the school.

Early registration is advised. Registration can be done online or at the school. All students who register will receive a registration confirmation, total tuition, and account balance if payment plan is utilized.
